EDUARDO REZENDE

Born in Rio de Janeiro and currently based in the United States, Eduardo Rezende develops a practice centered on spaces in transformation. His work begins with the observation of structures, materials, and environments undergoing change, exploring how time, construction, erosion, and human intervention reshape what we see.

The son of a mother deeply connected to art and a father who was a civil engineer, Eduardo grew up between two worlds that naturally came together in his practice: sensitivity, image, and expression on one side; structure, volume, construction, and balance on the other.

As a visual artist, he often transforms three-dimensional elements into two-dimensional surfaces. Volumes, shadows, textures, and structures cease to function only as what they originally were and begin to exist as composition. In many of his works, the image approaches painting through its relationship with color, materiality, depth, and abstraction.

This research also extends into installations and works in which the image is no longer simply observed but begins to occupy space. Moving between photography, painting, sculpture, and installation, Eduardo investigates precisely this moment of transition, when a form, a material, or an environment stops being one thing and begins to become another.
