VENTOS CRUZADOS

Sculpture / Installation, 2026 · Unique work
Águas do Sado, Portugal
Steel structure with industrial finish, transparent glass panels and photographic prints applied to glass
7.50 × 7.50 m overall · height 2.42 m · five cubic modules of 2.50 × 2.50 × 2.42 m

Ventos Cruzados is a sculptural installation made of five interconnected cubic volumes arranged in the shape of a cross. The work engages directly with the symbolism of the cross, evoking historical and cultural references of Portugal such as the Maltese Cross, associated with the voyages of navigation and with the routes traced by the wind.

The placement of the glass panels inside the volumes creates a labyrinthine path, in which the viewer is led through passages, transparencies and visual overlaps. This labyrinth stays open and fluid, allowing multiple routes, like currents of wind that cross and change course.

On the glass planes, photographic images of fabric in motion capture the instant when the wind becomes visible. As the viewer moves, these images appear and disappear, creating a shifting experience in which presence and absence, opacity and transparency, constantly alternate.

The work is thus an investigation into direction, crossing and transformation, concepts central both to the history of Portuguese navigation and to the artistic practice of Eduardo Rezende.

Escultura / Instalação, 2026 · Obra única
Águas do Sado, Portugal
