CAMINHOS DE FERRO
CAMINHOS DE FERRO looks at the paths of matter and the transformations inscribed on iron and steel surfaces. The title points not to a destination or a particular landscape, but to the paths the material itself travels over time: cutting, bending, impact, oxidation, corrosion, wear and permanence.
The photographs come from different worlds, from the submerged structures of a shipwreck to buildings, architectural elements and fragments of sculpture. By taking these surfaces out of their original contexts, photography turns details of matter into compositions of their own. Lines, fissures, overlaps and volumes come to build a graphic language that moves between abstraction and recognition.
Oxidation is central to this process. More than a sign of decay, it appears as an active force of transformation, producing layers, depths and chromatic variation within a single tonal field. Rust, shadow, light and texture reorganize the surface continuously.
In CAMINHOS DE FERRO, matter carries its own history. Each mark reveals a path, an action of time, a physical transformation. What matters is not documenting where these objects came from, but observing how iron and steel stop being only structure and begin to exist as image, surface and form.
